AKATIGA is an independent and non-profit research organization that aims to influence policy changes in order to create a fair social, political, and economic environment that enable the poor and marginalized groups to acquire greater access to and control over resources for sustainable livelihood.

AKATIGA was established in 1991 by a group of researchers from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Bandung Institute of Technology, and the Institute of Social Studies, the Netherlands.
